Along with the launch of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple introduced the newest processor, the A8. These processors contain 2 billion transistors and is made with a 20 nm fabrication.
Although Apple does not reveal the speed and number of processor cores, but they claim that the A8 has CPU performance 25% faster, the graphics work also increased by 50%, when compared with the A7.
Even A8 processor is said to be 84 times faster than the processor used in the Apple iPhone first generation.
As quoted from The Verge, Wednesday (09/10/2014), the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus does require a more powerful processor than the iPhone 5S. Thats because the two phones that have a higher resolution screen than the iPhone 5S.
Not only that, though said to be much faster, it turns out the processor power consumption is 50% more efficient than the A7. It also affects the heat generated, because the less power consumed, the heat generated will be less and less.
To optimize the work of the A8, Apple also encourages developers to use the Application Programming Interface (API) Metal in making the application. The first game to use the API is expected to be available before the end of 2014.
A8 processor also co-processor combined with M8 by Apple. This chip will be used to monitor the movement of data from the accelerometer, gyroscope and compass that exist in both the mobile phone.
