Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Review

“ There is really only one thing you can do with a curved screen ” - Hugo Barra, VP, Xiaomi

True to it’s tagline, Mi Note 2 is “Curved to Impress”. Though many people call it as a copycat of Samsung’s Edge 7, the Mi Note 2 has a 5.7 inch display with dual curved screens and back that meets in the middle for a perfectly symmetrical look.

And it is true that the Mi Note 2 has been a bit over shadowed by Mi’s concept phone â€" Mi Mix itself. Though Mi Mix has the atheistic taste of design with a tinge of marvellous display, the Mi Note 2 has a top hand over the Mix in daily life usage.

Specifications

Lets have a look over the specifications....

Display

A 5.7 inch flexible OLED display. Sounds swag right :)

What is OLED display ?

When there is such huge hype for AMOLED, what is OLED.
Which is better? AMOLED or OLED :o

Peace for a minute. You are at GeekWinky ;)

Leaving out all the definition and s cientific stuff, OLED has two sub-divisions : PMOLED (Passive) and AMOLED ( Active ). “Active matrix” in the case of OLED displays means just what it does in LCDs - there is an array of thin-film transistors (TFTs) on one substrate of the display, and these control each pixel/subpixel. And as is the case with TFT-LCDs, this permits higher pixel counts or “resolutions,” at high refresh rates, without sacrificing brightness or contrast and in general permitting more precise control of each pixel or subpixel.

Thus, it’s difficult to answer which is better as OLED can behave as an AMOLED as well.
What should strike you is the mention of flexible.

Yes! Flexible indeed. Just that you cannot flex or bend it because it’s placed under a curved glass.

The phone is beaut ifully bounded by a front and back 3D glass which is amazing to look at. All the magic lies there between the two curves and the beautifully crafted metal body.

Processor

The heart and soul of any digital system is the processor it is running on. The clock speed defines and matters the whole working of the system. Mi has not even compromised a bit on the processor of their Mi Note 2. Running on the industry’s best and latest Snapdragon 821 with a max frequency of 2.35 GHz.
A lot of beast- ness right

Snapdragon 821 is 10% faster than a Snapdragon 820 chipset. Another notable improvement i n the Snap 821 chipset is that it takes advantage of Qualcomm’s Hexagon DSP to process HDR+ photos faster. Yes, smoother and faster selfies and photos guaranteed with the Mi Note 2

With this new chip, you can switch between multiple tabs at ease and free from lag.

Other phones which run on the same chipset are Google Pixel which is priced Rs. 57,000 ( at Flipkart )  and the new OnePlus 3T which is priced  at $439 for 64 gigs base model.
In contrast, the Mi Note 2 is expected to be priced at Rs. 27,600 for the base model which is coupled with 4 gigs of RAM.

Memory

The base variant starts with 64 GB couple with 4 GB of RAM and the highest variant has 128 GB with 6 GB of RAM.
The base variant is expected to be priced at Rs.27,600 and the highest variant being priced at around Rs.33,000.

There will be no external memory card slot. Sad, there :(

Operating System

Mi Note 2 runs on the World’s Second Best OS MIUI 8, the latest version of MIUI. MIUI is based on Android Marshmallow 6.0.
The best thing about Xiaomi is guaranteed regular update to all its devices. And they stand on theri word. The MIUI is amazingly flauntless and goes great with the amazing hardware.

Battery

We have been seeing a gradual rise in the battery backup of all the Mi phones being launched recently. A great sign indeed. In today’s hectic world, it’s all about how long you last in the race of battery backup.
Last not Last :P Homonymic-al Nuisance

Mi Note 2 boasts of having a 4070 mAh battery. Blah-Blah continuously for 46 hours or play videos for 15 hours. Never worry of running out of juice, the mere number, 4070, takes care of everything you do with the Mi Note 2.

Camera

Hell Yeah, I love this!

22.56MP high-resolution camera. The Mi Note 2 comes with EIS 4k video stabiliaztion, so no worries about shaky stuff. You can now take clear and crisp vid eos and photos even while in motion.

Even when you remain to be in motion ;)

Selfie â€" love??
