Review Asus X550D NEW

One trigger declining sales of desktop computers or computer table is getting good performance of the notebook. Even the term that refers to a desktop replacement laptop with a performance equivalent to the computer table. But since there are no words desktops, laptops shadow large, heavy, and thick usually will immediately appear in the minds of consumers. With X550D, Asus wants to bring a new stigma that a laptop with a desktop replacement can be performed relatively slim and stylish, with a friendly price.

In designing a notebook with a screen size of 15.6 inches, ASUS designers must complete challenges in order to present X550D thinner. And they try to hide it with a blend of thin lines and graceful curves. Wrapped finishing "spin line" which was intr oduced since Zenbook, X550D carries a similar design with a more daring visuals thanks to its large size. This notebook looks luxurious thanks likeness Zenbook lineup. But seen from the side, a clear similarity with the Zenbook look no further.

Design sensual sized notebook

X550D have physical design symmetrical, like most notebooks. Not too thick and not too thin, Asus X550D sufficient size ideal for a notebook with a screen size of 15 inches and above. By weight was 2.26 kg, X550D including mild and only slightly heavier than notebooks with screens 14 inches.

For the bottom, Asus still uses unibodi design that is able to give the illusion that the notebook look thinner profile and provide rob ustness to the overall design of the notebook. Unfortunately, you can not freely perform the upgrade memory and hard disk easily. Of course you can still open the entire bottom of the notebook, but not recommended if you are new to disassemble the notebook chassis. Fortunately, Asus X550D equipped with hard disk capacity of 1 Terrabyte and 4GB of RAM, which is sufficient for several years.

ASUS X550D keyboard

Port connectivity X550D quite abundant. Thanks to the wide dimensions, ports are full size ranging from 1x VGA, 1x HDMI, 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, 1x LAN RJ-45, 1x audio jack (in / out). Hot air exhaust port located on the left side of the notebook has a fairly large openings and arranged neatly. Somethin g that is very useful in everyday use because it allows spending large amounts of hot air from inside the casing. A separate thanks for the bottom X550D not have grilles for air intake.

Asus uses a chiclet keyboard with keys to X550D. Black with silver color background, this notebook keyboard coloring scheme is similar to glance Apple MacBook. Distance pressure pretty well and lightweight so it is quite comfortable to type on for a long time. X550D also comes with a large sized touchpad with integrated buttons are easily pressed. We tried to do some gestures, including a high degree of precision touchpad.

Asus X550D comes up with a solution that combines the AMD APU and GPU processors in a single package. In theory, the GPU inside the APU can be used to help the performance of the CPU so as to provide better performance for applications that support it. In the specification, X550D 5750M APU comes with a quad-core 2.5 GHz, combined with 8550G GPU and GPU 8670M w ith 2GB of dedicated VRAM, as well as 4GB of RAM memory.

Solution two graphics cards from AMD has its own advantages. With this scheme, it is when the system does not require extra power, then power efficient 8550G GPU is used. Conversely, if it takes extra performance for applications that run, the 8670M GPU that require higher power consumption will be used. One difference with similar systems offered by Nvidia with Intel is AMD APU has an extra one another mode that allows two GPUs can be used simultaneously. This mode is not in the notebook with Nvidia and Intel graphics chips.

In 3DMark test, this notebook gives a pretty good performance. In testing Cloudgate, X550D get a score 4135, high enough for a notebook. As a notebook to play games, we also use testing Batman Arkham Origins and Sleeping Dogs to prove reliability X550D. To play the game Sleeping Dogs, X550D get an average of 31 fps, good enough for action games of this fame last year. For new games l ike Batman Arkham Origins, X550D only get about 21 fps with the lowest setting. Asus seems to have the ability gaming X550D appropriate for complex 3D gaming to the secondary level, but you should be quite active to change the graphics settings. For games with lower graphics requirements such as PES 2015, this laptop will be able to run it well.

Big screen 15.6 "Asus X550D has a native resolution of 1366 × 768 pixels. As a result, you also can see the pixels are quite large on the screen when watched carefully, although it will not interfere with the comfort of use. Screen size magnitude proven to provide more satisfaction than smaller laptops when used play 720p HD video. Coupled with speakers sound quite clear, though with less bass sound, this notebook is quite reliable as a mobile cinema.

In the Battery Eater test battery, this notebook can last up to 2 hours. In real-world testing, the Asus X550D only recorded less than 2 hours with the use of the scheme as follows: Balanced power plan, 50% brightness, Wi-Fi on, typing documents, browsing and watching videos.

Conclusion

Asus X550D is an ideal solution for designers and gamers who like to travel. The ability of the process can be fairly to all activities, both of productivity, playing games and editing photos / videos. Large screen size and performance are sufficient to make reliable enough to replace desktop computer at home.

However, the most interesting is the price. With a selling price in figures USD $569,09, Asus X550D quite affordable.
