Tim Cook I regard augmented reality as a big idea like the smartphone

Augmented Reality (AR) has the potential to become as big as the ubiquitous samrtmphone and help people out in daily life, Apple CEO Tim Cook has told The Independent newspaper.

Unlike Virtual Reality, which closes the world out, AR allows individuals to be present in the world but hopefully allows an improvement on what is happening presently, Cook said in the interview.

But the Apple CEO stopped short of detailing what the copany would do with AR.

“I regard it as a big idea like the smartphone. The smartphone is for everyone, we don’t have to think the iPhone is about a certain demographic, or country or vertical market: it’s for everyone. I think AR is that big, it†™s huge,” Cook said.

“I view AR like I view the silicon here in my iPhone, it’s not a product per se, it’s a core technology,” he added.

This is, however, not the first time Cook spoke favrourably of AR.

Virtual reality “probably has a lower commercial interest over time” and that “augmented reality is the larger of the two, probably by far” technology website The Verge quoted Cook as saying last year.

The Virtual Reality Society (VRS), an information and news resource for virtual reality and its related technologies, describes augmented reality as a technology that takes the real world of the present and projects digital imagery and sound into it whereas virtual reality immerses your senses completely in a world that only exists in the digital realm.

For cameras, the 10.6 only has one 5 MP front facing camera while the 12 has a 13 MP AF main camera and a 5 MP front facing camera for conference calls. For connectivity both use a USB-C. For storage, the 10.6 model starts with a 4 GB + 64 GB / 128 GB micro SD support.The 12 inch model on the other hand starts with either a 4 GB + 128 SSD or an 8 GB + 256 SSD with both supporting up to 256 micro SD expansion.

Now Airtel is introducing a new promotional offer for its postpaid customers called Airtel Surprise. Under the offer, Airtels postpaid subscriber will get free data surprises starting March 13.

The teleco has not revealed how much free data it is offering to its postpai d subscribers, instead users have to log onto the My Airtel App, and know the exact amount of free data. 

Airtel in the press release stated that "We are sending some free data your way so that you can enjoy Indias fastest mobile network a little more. You will be able to enjoy this surprise starting March 13th by logging onto MyAirtel app".

After 4 years and more than two million engineering hours of development, AMD has announced today the global launch of the Ryzen 7 desktop processors. The highly anticipated chipset line specially to compete / beat Intel counterparts even at a much affordable rate.
