The Philippine Government Will Setup 100000 FREE WiFi Sites In Public Places!

Good news! According to the earlier report by GMA News, the current Philippine Government is currently setting up 100,000 FREE WiFi sites in the country!

The government is allotting PHP 3 billion for the 10-year internet project to  FREE WiFI for everyone especially in areas that have no internet connection or have poor internet access or connectivity in the country. Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Usec. Jorge Sarmiento said that WiFi sites will be available in public places
“Sa mga park,  plaza sa mga local government unit areas, health centers, pier ang lalagyan ng free public W iFi ... we are aiming to cover all municipalities in the country," he said.
He also said that all public schools in the Philippines will have access to FREE WiFi internet.

This is in action from the 2016 data of United Nations Broadband Commission for Development that only three out of 10 homes have internet access or just around 28.3 percent. It is where the Philippines ranked 64 out of 138 countries in terms of the number of household connected to the internet.

ased on UNBCD’s data, other developing countries such as Jamaica, Fiji, Bhutan, Sudan, Ghana, Indonesia and Uzbekistan have all surpassed our country in terms of the number of household connected to the internet.

With this new initiative from the Government, lets expect a better connected Philippines soon!
