Lava last month launched Indias first 4G VoLTE enabled feature phone - the 4G Connect M1, that lets you use Reliance Jio SIM card to make HD VoLTE calls. Also Jio is expected to release its first VoLTE feature phone soon.
Now Micromax is also planning to join the party as well. Economic Times reports that Micromax is betting on a cheap VoLTE feature phone to revive its market share, which has taken a hit, after fo ur Chinese smartphone manufacturer clinched the top five spot. The report says that Micromax is working on a new Bharat line up of devices, and plans to launch a feature phone and a smartphone under the new series.
The feature phone called Bharat One will be a touch and type phone with VoLTE support and will be targeted at customers who do not want to move from feature phone, and are looking to access basic internet services. It will be priced under Rs. 2,500.
The smartphone is called Bharat Two and will run Android. It will also support VoLTE, and have integrated wallets for digital payment purposes. It will be priced under Rs. 3,500.
Unfortunately, the specs of the phones or the launch date is not known.However Micromax is expected to announce a new smartphone later this month, so we will know more at that time.
